Usually when people see Nathan Fifield at a December performance, he's up to his neck in nutcrackers.

That's because Fifield, music director of Tulsa Ballet, spends a good portion of each December leading the Tulsa Symphony Orchestra as it accompanies the ballet in "The Nutcracker."

Fifield is one of the musicians taking part in "Winters, Nights," a concert by the Tulsa Camerata, at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Cascia Hall PAC, 2525 S. Yorktown Ave.

Fifield will be supplying the keyboard continuo for two Baroque works: the Concerto Grosso in G minor, Op. 6, No. 8, by Arcangelo Corelli, commonly know as the "Christmas Concerto"; and J.S. Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 in G Major, BMV 1049.

He will also be featured in Astor Piazzolla's "The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires," arranged for piano trio.

"I really got into tango music when Tulsa Ballet did its 'About Tango' program a couple of years ago," Fifield said. "I've done a couple of tango projects since then, but I'm always looking for any opportunity to explore this music."

Joining Fifield in this piece will be his wife, Winona, who also serves as concertmaster when the Tulsa Symphony plays for the ballet, and cellist Krassimira Figg, one of the founding members of the Tulsa Camerata.

"Winona and I don't get too many opportunities to play together - not as many as we would like," Fifield said. "That's another reason why I'm looking forward to this concert."

The program will also include Mozart's "A Musical Joke," in which Mozart indulges in some fun with the conventions of classical composition.
